Recital Series

Our Recital Series features emerging and established Ottawa musicians on alternate Sundays evenings at 7:30 p.m. from mid September through May. Please note that recitals are not cancelled because of inclement weather. Due to increased attendance, latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the usher. If the weather is warm, we’re air conditioned!

Admission to each recital is by donation:  there is no set price. Come and enjoy an evening of excellent music at St. Luke’s.

From the Queensway, take the Bronson Avenue exit.
760 Somerset Street West is located 3 blocks west of Bronson, at the corner of Bell Street North.

t. Luke’s opens up its 2013-14 series with an evening of repertoire which blends the virtuosity and ”velouté” of these instruments featuring the music of Mendelssohn, Ponchielli, Dvorak, Kurt Weil and Crusell Kalliwoda.  (If it’s warm, we’re air conditioned.)

Joel Allison (bass-baritone) with François Lacelle (guitar)
An evening of English love songs from the Renaissance.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20 at 7:30
Hayley Swanton (soprano), Jean-E. Hudson (mezzo soprano), Frédéric Lacroix (piano) and Grace Armstrong (harp)
A selection of baroque duets by J. S. Bach with violin and cello obbligato.  Harp pieces played by Grace Armstrong will round out the selections by Vivaldi, Lully, Purcell and more.

The organist of St. Luke’s presents a programme?of music by Bach, Lübeck, Franck, Britten, Barrie Cabena and Denis Bédard.

Pre-Dawn Skies:  an evening of original jazz compositions.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1 at 7:30
Jessica McCormack (soprano) with Geoffrey Duce (piano)
An evening of art songs by Wolf, Britten and Poulenc among others.  A few seasonal selections will also be included in the program.

Ottawa Celtic Choir (Ellen MacIsaac, conductor)
A Celtic Christmas:  The Ottawa Celtic Choir will offer Celtic songs of Christmas, and of the winter season.
