The 10 am choir, under the direction of Bob Jones, sings a broad range of music rooted in the Anglican choral tradition: from 16th century to the 21st century. The very favourable acoustics of our sanctuary enhance the sound of our choir. Several of the choir members serve as cantor for the psalm each week. As well as leading in the congregational singing of the hymns, psalms and mass settings, the choir sings an anthem each Sunday. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7 pm to 9 pm and Sundays at 9 am prior to the 10 am service. Some ability to read music is an asset.
The Contemplative Service held on Sundays at 3:30 pm is filled with simple chant, ancient and new, from the Orthodox, Catholic, Celtic, and World traditions. This new choir, headed by Barclay McMillan, meets at 2:30 pm, before the service begins.

Recital Series
Our recitals take place from mid September through to early May on alternate Sunday evenings beginning at 7:30. (The fall semester dates are chosen so as not to occur on the Thanksgiving weekend, and the winter-spring semester dates are scheduled so as not to occur on Easter or Mother’s Day.) Admission to all recitals is by donation.
For upcoming recitals, please visit our Recital Series page at stlukesottawa.ca/what-we-do/recitals/.
Come Sing!
On the first Wednesday of each month (from September to June), St Luke’s hosts an extraordinary opportunity for people with ordinary voices to experience the joy of singing through world chants, simple songs and rounds led by Barclay McMillan of Voice Emergent (voiceemergent.com).
